Magazines, Speedloaders, Clips and Mag Accessories

Mags are by far probably the most widely purchased accessory for firearms. Good quality magazine allow reliable feeding and functioning for your rifle or pistol when you may need it the most. An extra mag also provides that critical bit of firepower in a competition or a life-or-death situation. Personally, I've always kept a special formula for a balance in my magazines--have several around for every gun! I always keep a few "service" mags for general range use that get dropped, thrown into bags, kept loaded for extended periods and generally get abused. These are mags that may be occasionally iffy (read unreliable or have failed once before), but still serve a purpose: feeding massive quantities of ammo into my guns at low cost to feed my expensive shooting addiction. Then I keep my "duty" magazines, of which, one mag is always kept loaded and carried in the magazine well of my duty or carry gun. I'll rotate magazines about once a month, preferably by shooting all the rounds that have been sitting in the immediate duty mag for the previous month and load up a fresh mag to replace the duty mag. That duty mag goes back into the reserve duty pool to be used in the coming months. I also always carry at least one extra mag for my carry or duty gun, which also gets rotated every month. My duty mags are the more expensive mags that I know work, usually a MecGar, Chip McCormick, Wilson or factory mag. My life depends on the reliability of my magazines and I'd like to think my life is worth at least the $20-$50 I'm going to invest into each magazine.
*** A NOTE ABOUT MAGAZINES *** Due to some very draconian laws in some states, we can not sell standard capacity magazines into the following states: New Jersey - 15 rounds maximum Maryland - 20 rounds maximum California - 10 rounds maximum Massachusets - 10 rounds maximum Hawaii - 10 round handgun maximum For these states you still have the option of buying handicapped mags (capacities reduced below what was designed for the firearm-thus my use of the term standard capacity and not high-capacity) for your Homeland Defense Rifles and other semi-automatic firearms.
