just bought my kimber uc and mostly i love it. i'm still in my 500 round breakin, but the way i shoot that should be over soon. i would say it jams once every 3 mags worth now, but it was much worse at the beginning. that being said, the recoil is excellent, the laser is so accurate it's scary, and the gun makes me a much better shot. it's my first kimber, and i love to shoot it. once the jam problem is resolved, it will definately be my primary carry weapon.

I have just recieved my Ultra carry II I have shot just 200 rounds through it and have not had any miss fires or fail to eject problems. I have the crimson site on it could not be more pleased. This gun carries easy and is easy to conceal. It takes a little to get used to the power of the 45 cal but the more I use it the better it gets.

I have this pistol in addition to a Kimber Compact Custom and a Raptor. This ultra is certainly not as smooth as the other two but it is a very sweet shooter IF you find the right ammo/magazine combination. That is the key. Wilson mags work fine in the others but not in the ultra. Interesting enough, the cheaper Italian mags like Meggars and ACT MAG work flawlessly. The money factor has to be considered also. Springfield makes several models that are on par with this pistol and easier to disassemble. No pesky L shaped pin for the recoil spring. But the Kimber seems to be smoother and fits the hand nicely whereas the Springfield has its share of hard edges. Remember that this is not a SIG but this is also a slightly different type of pistol. Want high mileage? Get a SIG. Want cheaper selection? Go to a Springfield. Want a smooth shooter that covers most bases? Get a Kimber. Use 230 gr Speer for the best action feeding. Any pistol will have its share of hang-ups but alot feel (including me lately) that when one spends over $800 for a high line pistol..........it should not have any burps or misfeasance. SIGS or even the ridiculously priced HK's don't falter one bit so why can't Kimber get on the ball and reduce these 'break-in' jams? A Kimber is classy and alswys stands out in a crowd. You cannot go wrong with this very concealable pistol.

Right out of the box this pistol shot OK but jammed repeatedly about 15 out of 100 rounds. I sent is back to Kimber America Custom Shop and their engineers found it couldn't be fixed because the slide was completely out of specifications. They put a new slide on it and custom polished everything while adjusting the extractor too. Got it back - no jams for hundreds of rounds. AND now shoots GREAT: .5 inch to 1 inch groups at 7 to 10 yards. Crisp trigger, fast draw and great ballance. Great gun.

Got me one of them thare stainless Ultra Carry II in 2004. At first there were feed and ejection problems o' plenty. The spring assembly kept unscrewing loose during firing and sometimes the rod would fall out. I was so disappointed for all this unreliability in a $800+ gun. I can still hear the laughs now. Everytime my Kimber fell apart, so did my reputation and pride. If I didn't hear the rod ping the deck, I would've lost the dang thing. I called Kimber and the nice lady sent me a new spring assembly. Everything has been smoove since then. Certain hollowpoints get snagged on the steep ramp if the tips ain't smoove. Accuracy? The gun can shoot better than I can see. These 3 inch groups at 25 yards I read about, dang I can't even see a 3 inch object to aim on at 25 yards. I have a tough time centering small targets on the HUGE tritium sights. On the other hand, I ain't hardly ever missed a torso sized cardboard target at that distance with this combo, even at high rates o' fire. Not to brag, but if I take my time, even at 25 yds, I get 'em in the "A" zone every time, 95% of the time. I reckon I could be more precise with a thin blade up front and narrow gaps in the rear. When I compare the trigger to other people's guns, usually ones commonly issued by the police and such, the Kimber makes it a lot easier to shoot well, ain't no wait in the trigger while I hold sight picture, I tap it, and the gun spits out a bullet somewhere behind the front sight post. I heard that beginners ought not start with a single action 1911 though because beginners tend to lay a finger on the trigger and press before they get a good sight picture. I'd give this gun 5 stars if it could shoot 16,000,000 rds without replacing this or that, like a Glock. I'd give a Glock 5 stars if it could feel like this gun.

I recently purchased the crimson ultra carry II. I am 325 rounds into the 500 round break-in period. During the first 75 rounds I had 3 failure to feed's - the slide locked open mid way through the magazine. Since then, the pistol has smoothed out. It has not jammed once. It is more accurate than I can shoot. Both the sights and laser were on right out of the box. The take down and reassembly takes a little getting used, but really isn't an issue once you've done it a few times. Still shooting 230 grain ball for the initial break-in, as recommended by Kimber. Will switch soon to JHP rounds soon.

Right out of the box,This pistol started Cranking them out shooting golden sabers,not even one jam occured.I had a little field stripping problem,due to tight tolerances, but got passed all that.this is my third Kimber,such a fine piece of machinery,with all this feedback im hearing,I sure hope i never run into these problems,and ive only put 250 rounds into my breakin period.I love my Kimber ultra carry 2.Good luck to those who have their problems,lets hope customer service gets better from what ive been reading/hearing .

As an ex-cop and former Marine, I have a quite a bit of shooting experience. I took my Colt Series 70 .45 with a 5 inch barrel and my Kimber Ultra Carry II Stainless to the range. I have had no malfunctions with my Kimber during the break in period but at 25 feet my Kimber had a baseball size group which was better than I could due with my trusty old Colt.

See my ealier Sept 08 post. I am just shy of 700 rounds. (Been a cold winter in MN and haven't gotten to the range as much.) I have only had one additional jam since the last post while a friend was firing. Believe that was likely to do to limp wristing. Otherwise no problems. Have introduced various JHP rounds ranging from 185g to 230g without issue. Haven't found good data on balistics/ terminal performance out of 3' inch barell, so still searching for a JHP carry load to test in bulk. Recommendations welcome. No + P ammo fired. All standard pressure. Bought two additional Kimber factory mags. Both have worked fine, although others recommend Wilson mags. Have not yet changed springs and plan to keep shooting until it becomes a noticeable issue. Want to find the outer range of reliability on that and then will post the results. Until then, will continue to carry my snubbies. Still extremely pleased with this pistol. Out here.

Back again. I inadvertently gave 3 stars last time, when I meant five. This is my third post. (read earlier posts) I am approaching 1500 rounds through this pistol. No further jams, stove-pipes, or FTF, FTE. I fired 230g ball until about 750 rounds fired. Since then have fired a mix of ball and JHP. No problems with the JHP's in probably 300 rounds fired. Like the 230g Speer Gold Dot, but have not found good ballistic data. (Seems to be the sh*t for snub .38)
