3rd KIMBER................. (4/5) Aug 18, 2010 Mr Steve Tampa FL US
I have this pistol in addition to a Kimber Compact Custom and a Raptor. This ultra is certainly not as smooth as the other two but it is a very sweet shooter IF you find the right ammo/magazine combination. That is the key. Wilson mags work fine in the others but not in the ultra. Interesting enough, the cheaper Italian mags like Meggars and ACT MAG work flawlessly. The money factor has to be considered also. Springfield makes several models that are on par with this pistol and easier to disassemble. No pesky L shaped pin for the recoil spring. But the Kimber seems to be smoother and fits the hand nicely whereas the Springfield has its share of hard edges. Remember that this is not a SIG but this is also a slightly different type of pistol. Want high mileage? Get a SIG. Want cheaper selection? Go to a Springfield. Want a smooth shooter that covers most bases? Get a Kimber. Use 230 gr Speer for the best action feeding. Any pistol will have its share of hang-ups but alot feel (including me lately) that when one spends over $800 for a high line pistol..........it should not have any burps or misfeasance. SIGS or even the ridiculously priced HK's don't falter one bit so why can't Kimber get on the ball and reduce these 'break-in' jams? A Kimber is classy and alswys stands out in a crowd. You cannot go wrong with this very concealable pistol.
Crimpson carry2 (3/5) Jun 25, 2009 Michael James Fayetteville No US
I have fired 250 rounds through this weapon and I've had six jams. This concerns me. I found that the stock sights were difficult to see firing at a black target so I changed to the night sights. This made a world of difference. AS far as the accuracy goes I put 16 rounds in a 2" hole at 30' away. If I can find out what to do about the jamming issue the gun will do the job.

***** Comments from The Armory. Michael, what you're experiencing with your Kimber is not unusual. That's the reason they say in the owner's manual that there's a 500 round break in period. To increase the accuracy of the Kimber they had to reduce the slop or "tighten the tolerance". The only drawback to this is that you have a break-in period. The tighter tolerance that Kimber went for increases the accuracy that you say you're enjoying. I would say that after the 500 round break in period the reliability will improve drastically. And of course any small frame pistol requires a firm grip which is normal. It becomes more noticeable on some of the newer polymer pistols which are lightweight. Overall I have found that all Kimber products are superior once you follow the standard recommended break in periods. Bill G.

i bought this gun thinking that it would only be a carry gun and would not be accurate at more than 7 yards.BOY was i wrong!!! I shot a 5in group at 75feet!!!! the first time i shot it.i have a glock with a matchgrade barrel and it has a 4inch barrel, lets just say that i dont shoot anywhere near what i shoot with this kimber.yes it does jam and it locks back when the last round is in the chamber and wont fully close but after it is broke in you wont have that problem.i rate this 5 stars because of how accurate this gun is.
Very Satisfied (5/5) Sep 28, 2008 marcus miller st. cloud mi US
I recently purchased the crimson ultra carry II. I am 325 rounds into the 500 round break-in period. During the first 75 rounds I had 3 failure to feed's - the slide locked open mid way through the magazine. Since then, the pistol has smoothed out. It has not jammed once. It is more accurate than I can shoot. Both the sights and laser were on right out of the box.

The take down and reassembly takes a little getting used, but really isn't an issue once you've done it a few times.

Still shooting 230 grain ball for the initial break-in, as recommended by Kimber. Will switch soon to JHP rounds soon.
Update (5/5) Sep 12, 2009 marcus miller St. Cloud MN US
Back again. I inadvertently gave 3 stars last time, when I meant five. This is my third post. (read earlier posts)

I am approaching 1500 rounds through this pistol. No further jams, stove-pipes, or FTF, FTE. I fired 230g ball until about 750 rounds fired. Since then have fired a mix of ball and JHP. No problems with the JHP's in probably 300 rounds fired. Like the 230g Speer Gold Dot, but have not found good ballistic data. (Seems to be the sh*t for snub .38)

Great compact 1911 (5/5) Sep 20, 2013 Lt4545 Albuquerque Ne US
This is one great 1911 for someone looking for a pistol of this type! I looked mine over and found thr fit and finish consistently excellent. Then time to load up and shoot it. Now here I was very pleasantly surprised 2 mags full of magtech 230gr. Hardball was extremely smooth right thru it with no ftes or ftfs Plus the two best surprises of all. The excellent trigger! It's very smooth ,no creep no grittiness at all , and felt just about perfect a @4.5lbs. Then the second and most noticeable plus going for this pistol. I found that it was surprisingly very easy to control and handle for a 1911this small and light .at least for me I thought felt recoil was quite easy to my hand or hardball.i plan on replacing the kimber mnfg. Magazines with the correct Wilson combat 47 ds.i find its easy to carry at 25 ozs empty. I love this little 45. Being my first kimber I am so happy with this ultra carry that I've ordered and rec'd a full size custom11 and fit it ith Wilson combat mags as well. I feel that for an affordable 1911 of great quality, made in America kimber is the gold standard! No I don't work for kimber! Or did I get any special price. I had to wait months to find a store with one in stock forveach purchase plus I paid the going retail price both times.albeit the lowest I could find either locally or on the web. I recommend kimbers to friends and family with confidence.just found some reasonably priced range ammo and can't wait to get my new 1911(kimber) to the range!

Fine weapon (4/5) Apr 2, 2010 Larry Matthias Spokane Wa US
Experienced a few FTL because of the slide stop engaging after 3 - 4 rounds fired. It appears that the Remington green box 230g round nose ammo is moving forward slightly in the mag after firing, inadvertently engaging the stop. I'm replacing the slide stop with a new one being sent from Kimber. Accuracy is excellent. It held its own against my Ed Brown Special Forces full sized 1911. I've given the weapon a rating of "4" until I see if the FTL situation is fixed. A CC weapon MUST fire every time!
Best compact I have owned (3/5) Feb 12, 2008 kyle Hilsinger maricopa az US
I got my kimber uc 2 last week and, so far, I am very impressed. I use it as my concealed carry weapon and it works great. It is light weight and very acurate. I will definately trust my life to this handgun.

Just a comment to the guy complaining about its acuracy over 15 yards, it is a compact gun with a short barrel shooting a .45 caliber bullet, it is not made to be a long range target gun, but everything I have ever learned about guns is that a lot of the time bad grouping has more to do with the shooter than the gun. The wand is only as good as the magician.
