Sig P229 DAK - nice gun (5/5) | Jul 7, 2006 | Rob H | Wmsprt Pa |
It's really hard to fault this "compact" handgun. I've owned ruger, walther, beretta, and Glocks, but this is really the nicest I've owned. I like the design, and fit. It fits my large hand very nicely. It's a well made pistol, very durable and dependable. They are a little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Excellent Weapon (5/5) | Jan 6, 2007 | Anonymous | Columbia SC |
Like others I looked at Glock, HK, Beretta before settling on this gun. The weight really balances out the recoil and it is insanely accurate. Spend the extra $200 or so on a SIG. It is worth it. (Im not disparaging Glocks, however, likely my next purchase) Try before you buy.

P229R DAK .40 S&W (5/5) | Apr 12, 2006 | R. Chen | Gilbert AZ US |
My fourth SIG. Own other Glocks, H&Ks, Kimbers, a Springfield Armory & a Walther. Quality is what you'd expect. Nice balanced & ergonomic feel. Trigger is very smooth. Accurate as you can be. Shot it new for the first time and no jams after 258 rounds. Disassembly and cleaning is easy. Looks great!

SIG P229 STAINLESS (5/5) | Jul 6, 2006 | JOHN | HOUSTON TE US |
LOOKED AT GLOCKS. BOUGHT A SIG 229. COULDN'T BE HAPPIER. WAS PLEASANTLY SURPISED WITH THE LOW RECOIL FOR A .40 S&W. I'M A NOVICE (AT 62 YEARS OLD!) AND WAS TOLD THAT A .40 CALIBRE WAS OUT OF MY FRAIL RANGE. TOO BAD, SO SAD, THEY WERE WRONG ABOUT THE SIG. ACCURACY IS UNBELIEVABLE. BELIEVE ME, THE EXTRA $$$'S ARE REALLY WORTH IT! I CONSIDER THIS GUN AN INVESTMENT. |

Sig Sauer P229R Crimson Trace (5/5) | Jan 14, 2008 | Michael | Alamogordo NM US |
Fabulous .40S&W. True "Hell & Back Reliability". This is great gun to shoot and with factory loads [ie.... 180-grain] the recoil is almost identical to the P226 9mm. Two thoughts on accessories. #1 is the factory fixed sights. I'm a unique case where the factory sights require tweaking horizontally. Because they are fixed, you need to order replacement sights for different heights [ie... #10 or #6 vs. factory installed #8]. I chose after-market fully adjustable sights and am very pleased. The second thought: The Crimson Trace Laser is located above the right index finger [right-handed shooter] and unless you hold that trigger finger perfectly horizontal [or lower] to the frame, the finger is in the way of the laser until you lower it, or move it to the trigger. A slight adjustment in my grip solved the problem. Others with habits hard to break may not like this being a $300.00 add-on. Overall, an exceptional gun well worth the money!

SigArms P229 Stainless (5/5) | Jan 29, 2009 | Scottie Bryant | Piedmont Al US |
After owning Beretta Cougar, Glock 17, H&K 45, and even a Kimber 45, the finest shooting firearm I have shot is my stainless P229 40calSW! No offense to Kimber because that is a quality firearm, the SigArms P229 has less recoil and is more accurate than ANY of the other firearms in my arsenal. I would choose the Sig over ALL OTHER FIREARMS for personal protection of my home and family. I know several readers will disagree with the Kimber remark, but this is Personal Preference!

Sig 229 ELITE (5/5) | Nov 22, 2010 | Bill Otway | San Antonio TX US |
As a long time Glock man, I fell in love with this weapon in the first 10 rounds. It's beautiful, amazingly minor recoil, and dead-on accurate. I still like my Glocks (19,23,26 & 27), but this immediately became my FAVORITE and my carry gun.

PERFECT! (5/5) | Sep 18, 2011 | JIM JOHNSTON | Murrysville PA US |
The Sig P229 DAK (40 cal.) that I own is the best balanced ,most comfortable, reliable and easily concealed pistol I have ever used. I have run over 15,000 rounds through it and it has never given me any problems . Very manageable recoil.Smooth as silk trigger. As far as I'm concerned Sig has hit a grand slam with the P229. |
