Kimber Tactical Pro II (3/5) Feb 4, 2007 Douglas Meridian Winston Salem NC US
Purchased the Tactical Pro II and so far I'm pleased. Wasnt fond of hearing about the finish wearing off. Hope mine wears better. This was a toss up between it and the Ultra Carry II. Now I wish I would have waited, but seem to be an impulse buyer. The gun shoots very well at 15 yards. In the first 200 rounds it failed to feed 4 times which made me concerned, since I will be using it on duty. Again, maybe should have waited for the Compact. But didn't want to pay for the double recoil springs ever 1500 rounds. If you like the looks of the gun and will be happy with the size I would recommend, however do not settle for this if you are looking for something smaller. You'll save about $300 which you can use somewhere else. So far so good, but now I'm concerned about the finish. Not something I needed to hear after spending a $1000 plus on the weapon. Hmmmmm....
Also please note, the silver finish.... You have to be VERY CAREFUL on breaking it down and assembly. You can scratch it very easily. Kimber could have done it differently. Next time will go with a black finish. Good Luck

I've had this pistol for a week after trading "up?" from a new Springfield Armory PX9151LP Full Size Stainless .45 that had a misaligned saftey release. In all other ways it was a beautiful pistol. The Tactical Pro II is much lighter and out of the box I've had 15 to 20% failure to feeds using Winchester 230 gr FMJ. This includes failure to go into battery while racking the first round. From what I've been reading this seems to be a common problem with this weapon. A friend suggested that I was holding the pistol incorrectly and that if I gripped it more firmly the FTF would cease. This did solve the FTFs during shooting but obviously had no effect on chambering the first round. The pistol is extramly accurate. I've only fired 100 rnds through it at this time and am going to wait to pass judgement until I've shot 500 plus. This is a beautiful pistol but I'm concerned about the FTF problem. If I had it to do over I would get a steel frame. I think the extra inertia would solve the FTF problem. The Springfield never failed to chamber any ammo but did not have the quality of workmanship that the Kimber has.

I bought mine a few weeks ago as a 1911 compact for personal carry and have 1000 + rounds through it now. The only problem I had was that the right grip became loose after 100 rounds. I tightened the screws and haven't had this come up again.

No problems with finish or with function. No jams and the accuracy is most excellent right out of the box with no changes made by me.

Get it, you won't regret it.

Just bought it a month ago. 200 rounds and three feed problems. Easily fixed by re-racking. Will be my main CCW in "the hood". Hopefully this will work itself out. For $1000...and my life on the line...it better. Accuracy is excellent!

I got several Kimber models and the Tactial II is just as fine a piece as my other ones. Its accurate and has been bullet proof. I trust my life with it. Thanks Kimber

I would give it five stars for accuracy. However, the finish is wearing much sooner than it should. I have handled it very little and haven't started using it for my CCW. I bought it new June 25 and today is the ninth of July. The finish around the safety is wearing (actually appears to be falling off) as is the end of the slide. I would think for this kind of money, Kimber would make a finish that wears better. Kimber quality is always great. I bought the gun to replace my Para LTC, but find myself wishing I had kept the Para sometimes. In shooting at ten yards, I get most rounds in a 1- 2" hole with B/R. It doesn't jam, but does fail to feed sometimes, which I find is quickly cured by just "encouraging" the slide forward. I feel this will stop when the pistol is finally broken in. So far about 300 rounds through it. I like the weight. Again, the finish is....?????
