Lynnhaven Mall in Va Bch

Post by marcw » Wed Feb 16, 2005 10:19 am

Those of us in Virginia Beach need your help. Please take a minute to voice your opinion on Lynnhaven Malls new anti-gun policy which includes CHP carriers. I received this email this morning, follow the link to Lynnhaven Malls contact page.
Just a heads up. Lynnhaven mall now has a NO GUNS policy posted!!! CHP carriers are NOT exempted. Do what you feel is right, but they are not getting any of my money anymore. This sign is posted on the door between JC Pennys and Structures.

Here is a way you can contact them...if you wish to do so... www.lynnhavenmall.com/html/contactus.asp

VCDL has been informed.

About 18 months ago, when I returned from being overseas for about 7 years, I took my family to Lynnhaven Mall. LHM had always seemed to be the upscale place when we lived here before.
Exiting the mall, there where large numbers of kids in groups all looking like they where up to no good. I think my 12 yr old calls them posers, I call them potential threats. One was targetting my wife's body with a laser pointer and I told him to stop. When I did not flinch at his remarks, he stopped. (In some briefs I have seen, the laser is used like a signal to target vicitims of robberies or when a gang initiates a newbie)
I called LHM later that week and told them my thoughts and that I will be spending money elsewhere in the future. They had their heads firmly in the sand that LHM is a family place and packs of kids are part of the charm and that the rent-a-cops where all gang specialists......
It is my opinion LHM does have a problem they refuse to recognize and it will only get worse. Know they want to deny citizens the ability to protect themselves? Like I said, I will spend my hard earned disposable somewhere else (like at The Armory). Again, this is all just my opinion based on my experiences. The kid presence does not raise my threat level to the point I need to carry a gun, but these two circumstances combined give me more reason to shop elsewhere.
Thank you
Repsectfully,
Mike B

I just sent them an email. Let's get some momentum going for the "non Christmas shopping" they'll be missing from all of us.
God Bless America

Lately they've had a rash of parking lot robberies 3 (3& counting), nothing new for Lynnhaven Mall, especially at Christmas time. Like most gun owners, I find it totally unacceptable for them to expect me to leave my gun in the car when they can't even protect me as I/we enter and exit the mall.

There are other malls in the area we can shop, maybe I'll see some of you there. I've already let them know what I think- in a diplomatic but firm way. No response. I'm sure the "gang specialist" rent-a-cops will clear it up ASAP. My daughter works outside that mall, I can't wait untill she's old enough to carry. Meanwhile I worry.

I was under the impression that they took the signs down some months ago. I always go in through the second level door by the kids playground. The sign that was posted there has been gone for some time. The VCDL members say that there is one posted by the main entrance. Alot of good that does if you don't enter through there. I have still not seen that one yet either. I would like to know if that is LHM's policy to not allow people to carry weapons in their mall, what are they doing to protect those that shop there? How will they prevent me from being robbed and/or assaulted in THEIR parking lot? How have they allowed themselves to succomb to the thugs and misgrients that are allowed to hang out on their parking lots? We could choose not to shop there but what other choice do we have? Go to Macarthur Mall? It may be safer but some genius in mall management there came in and kicked out all of the stores that were behind on their rent. Alot of business sense that made. Now instead of stores in the mall that attract customers, they have all paying customers but even less stores to attract me to come there and spend money.

What do I have left, Chesapeake. PLEEEEEEASE.....trade one for another. I think that I will stay at LHM since it is convenient for me and still choose to exercise my second amendment rights.

That was me. PVC asked if I would go and verify the signs so I walked around the entire exterior of the mall and only at the direct mall entrances did I see signs posted. I didn't look at the entrance by play land area. If you enter through a store entrance (JCPenney, Barnes & Noble, etc) there are no signs and the law is on your side. The only thing they can do is ask you to leave.

Lynnhaven is close for me too so when I go I enter through Barnes & Noble :D

I think that in light of recent event in and around Lynnhaven Mall that no one would care if you were carrying. I always live by the philosophy that if I am carrying a gun that NO ONE will know it. If it comes time to use it, so be it. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I will not be dictated to by thugs that are set on preying on those that choose to enjoy themselves at a place of their choosing.

Same with at Military Circle, there is a sign at the Sears entrance, but not the JCP entrance.

I go in that way.... I'll carry anyways. Guess I'll be one of the ones to be "escorted" from the building.

Gun or No Gun, you could not pay me enough money to go to Military Circle. That place has definately gone down hill in the past few years. I didn't loose anything in there. :???:

Hey.... I never said I "liked" going there, or spent any time there. It was for convenience sake only.

I could take you to a chinese grocery store in South Norfolk that would do it for a lot less money.

Been there.... got gas and used one of their "home remedies"... after explaining to NPD & Peta that it wasn't real giraffe teeth that I was grinding and mixing in my beer, I ended up with gastroentinitis and stayed home from work the rest of the week.

I'll never go there again. :n
