Hello Kansas
Glad to see someone on here, I don't know why it's so slow. The only 45 I have is a 1911a1 springfield, I like it a lot, a good shooter.
I do a lot of Hunting and go out to a place called Beloit Kansas for pheasant, have you ever heard of it. it's almost dead north of Abeline (sp)
Wish you luck with that XD, I never shot one but they sure look good, Bob

YEAH RIGHT! Give it a few days and I am sure that you will convince yourself that you can't live without it. Once you realize that the "tactical" versions are the same size as a full size 1911 with more ammo and no "cocked and locked" carry, you will want one. As much as I want a 1911, I still can't get over the cocked and locked carry. That is why I have held onto my Glock 35 tactical/practical in 40cal.
I am torn between a Glock 21 and a XD45Tactical. I like the 5" barrel of the XD along with all the extras that come with the XD package. However, being a Glock armorer and owning several Glocks, I am partial to them. I am not convinced yet that the XD's are built to hold up like a Glock is. I have not seen enough about how their finish is with wear or how much anyone has abused them. I heard early reports of the grip safety collecting surface rust. There was a torture test done on a Glock 21 and they posted it on AR15.com. After reading this report and seeing how well the Glock performed (even out performing a USP), it made me want a Glock 21 something awful. I have a P220R ST but it is just not a Glock!
The other thing that complicates this is that I have a Glock 34 (40cal), which is about the same size as a 1911, etc. Do I really want another 5" pistol?

I'm an old fan of the 1911 45's since using them aboard the sub I was on 25 years ago. (SSN689)
I went into the Armory back in March to buy a 1911 style 45. I walked out with a XD45 service model. (4") Since then I have totally lost the urge to get a 1911. The XD just works that well for me. It's a great pistol.

I just laid away an XD45 ACP. I'll pick it up in a week. I can't wait to take her to the range.
