Magazine Spring Compression

Post by barral59 » Sat Apr 29, 2006 7:57 am

I recently purchased a G19 as the new home gun and a G26 for CCW. When adding the grip extenders to my G26 mags I noticed that the springs were not the greatest. I then recalled a few forums about not loading mags to capacity due to spring compression which can result in failures. Has anyone ever experienced spring compression or can someone recommend a better spring for my Glocks?

Check www.wolfsprings.com online. They have a list of manufacturer's for revolvers & semi-auto pistol replacement springs. For IDPA Shooter 's, special package replacement springs for revolvers or pistol tuneups & mags.

I've been carrying a Glock since 1991. All mags are still loaded and stay that way. I haven't had any problems with them. I have read stories of 1911 mags that were left loaded since WWII and when they were loaded into a gun they functioned fine. The problem arises when you attempt to "stretch" them out put pulling them. DON'T DO THAT. If you rotate your ammo regularly you should be fine. The ARMORY used to sell NIW Glock mags for about 20.00. Just buy some new ones and use the old ones as Range/Training mags.
