Special Permit or License Required?

Post by shotgunn83 » Mon Jan 30, 2006 11:49 pm

Does anyone know if a special license or permit is required to purchase a handgun within the city of VA Beach? I seem to have heard before that a license or something has to be obtained from the VA Beach police force or the jail? Anyone know anything about this? Thanks for your help.

Yes, you have to pay me 500.00. Let me know when you want the pay-pal account information....... :D

the purchase permit requirement was lifted about a year ago. Now with 2 proper forms of ID, you can purchase a handgun. I still think thought that in the absence of a CCW you are still limited to 1 handgun every 30 days. If you ever needed another reason to get a CCW permit, there it is.

Make that every 31 days. The state police computer can't tell that it's the 30th day so it will reject the form. We've had lots of people get denied because of the 30 day rule. On the other hand, we've had lots of people coming in to buy whenever they want because they have a CCP. Good for business! I've heard that Va. Beach is now mailing the permits to the customers. I had to personally sign for mine down at the courthouse. He was told it would be about 2 weeks! Not bad. For Police and Law Enforcement who did not need the State Permit, the law was changed so that they can buy more than one a month also. They just have to show badge and ID and can buy more than one gun a month. I love it!
