.58 falling block rifle
I've been shooting a .58 caliber reproduction Springfield for some time, but being the tinker that I am I would like to try something new. I understand that Blue Ridge Machinery sells plans for a falling block action somewhat similiar to the Sharps. I was thinking of making one scaled and chambered for the same .58 load of 75 grains ffg (What I've been muzzle loading in the Springfield) encased in a 24ga shotgun hull. Am I off my rocker or does it make any kind of sense to anybody else? I'd have the same ballistics with which I am familiar, but in an all weather, easy to load/unload package. Comments?
