Just purchased an AK from Impact Guns...haven't used 7.62 since my days with the M14. What is the best most reasonably priced ammo for long-term storage? Not that avid of a shooter..until I move to Tn.
Also, am I best to purchase hollow-point for all-around use including self-defense?
Thanks

Just to make it clear, the 7.62 ammo you use in your M14 is different then for your AK. The ammo for your M14 is basically .308. The ammo for your AK is 7.62x39. As for the best. Any will do, the AK is designed with such low and loose tolerances that it will eat any ammo.

In 7,62x39 i like the wolf ammo in FMJ so far because of its cheap for plinking. But for hunting i like the brown bear ammo in 125gr soft point and the wolf 154gr soft point.
I would try a box of hollow points first to see how they feed. I'm not sure if every gun will feed hollow points successfully. Plus i'm not sure which ones will and which ones didn't its been a longtime since i read about hollow points not feeding and which calibers they were.
