When I first began hunting as a youngster, I used a side by side 12 gauge with a barrel as long as a country mile. I loved it though. Fairly accurate with buckshot as well as squirrel shot, and didn't kick very badly. I also have an old "Wing Master", can't remember the company, but it's also a great gun, mainly for birds and clays. Goodluck
