OLD Handgun need info !!

Hi,
My father-in-law passed away not long ago and my mother-in-law gave me one of his old hand guns .I need some info on it if anyone can help. I don't want to sell it but would like to know [ Just to know ] , if it has any value ,I've never seen one like it before. This is the info as stamped on the barrel. [ Colt's PT, F,A,MFG.CO Hartford,CT,USA
