I'm one of those strange people that finds cleaning my guns to fun and relaxing. However, I don't clean excessively since there is always the risk of some wear and tear any time you push a metal cleaning rod down the barrel. A good wipe down is always a good idea. Still packing the .45 for daily carry, but the 9mm be a whole lot cheaper for practice and such. Now I need to get me a 1911 in 9mm (hopefully one with target sights). Maybe those helpful chaps at The Armory might have one lying around.
I've had a similar issue with certain 12ga shells from Fiocchi in my Mossy 500. It does take a slightly different pump action to cycle them correctly. Here lately I'm sticking to the higher brass US made shells so they'll work in my Saiga 12 too.
