Kimber quality where you need it most.
Small pistols present a host of design and manufacturing challenges. They must be strong enough to handle the same ammunition as full size models, maintain absolute reliability and be accurate with a wide variety of ammunition. Recoil also becomes an important factor. Little pistols chambered for big calibers must be controllable from shot to shot by shooters with all levels of experience.
Ultra Carry pistols are the smallest 1911 pistols ever manufactured. More importantly, Kimber quality doesn’t force a choice between performance and size. The slim 1911 profile makes them easy to carry and conceal. Because a 1911 fits most hands better than any other semi-automatic design they have a natural pointability that brings them to target faster.
Unique design features contribute to both dependability and accuracy. The ejection port is beveled front and rear to give adequate clearance to ejecting brass, avoiding the jams common to other brands of small semi-automatics. The match grade bull barrel is even fitted directly to the slide without the aid of a barrel bushing. Edges are rounded and blended to prevent snagging on clothing or holsters.
With 7-round flush fitting magazines riding in their shortened frames, Ultra Carry pistols carry more shots and have more power than almost any revolver. A dual-captured low effort recoil spring design keeps manual slide operation smooth. It also dampens recoil enough that these pistols are easier to control and shoot than a revolver. Safety? The 1911 has proven its safety through generations of use, and the new Kimber Firing Pin Safety that is part of every pistol makes them even more secure without impeding performance or altering trigger pull.
Kimber Ultra Carry pistols bring a new, higher level of confidence to concealed carry. Light, powerful and dependable, there is no better choice.

UPDATE to my previous comment about "What a disappointment!"04/14/2008
By Dean E.
Previously, I wrote that this gun malfunctioned, not feeding, jamming etc and basically "stinks." Well after reading Bill's reply I kept the gun and did the break in. I'm now at about 600 rounds and the gun is firing much better! I do get some jams and failure to feed but I think it's due to the blazer ammo that I using at the range (have to use that "clean" ammo at this range). The good news is that I found a hollow point that seems to work perfectly with this gun! I've fired 72 rounds and not one jam or misfeed. I'm using Federal's hydr-shok 165grain. Less recoil too. It's a very smooth shiny bullet that is somewhat hexagon shape at the tip so it doesn't get jammed on the "loading ramp" of the barrel (my theory). My feeding problems were at the ramp. They're expensive at over a buck a pop but for self-defensive who cares. I'll keep testing and fire 150 rounds before I have almost complete confidence in this ammo for self defense carry. As far as accuracy

This is one great 1911 for someone looking for a pistol of this type! I looked mine over and found thr fit and finish consistently excellent. Then time to load up and shoot it. Now here I was very pleasantly surprised 2 mags full of magtech 230gr. Hardball was extremely smooth right thru it with no ftes or ftfs Plus the two best surprises of all. The excellent trigger! It's very smooth ,no creep no grittiness at all , and felt just about perfect a @4.5lbs. Then the second and most noticeable plus going for this pistol. I found that it was surprisingly very easy to control and handle for a 1911this small and light .at least for me I thought felt recoil was quite easy to my hand or hardball.i plan on replacing the kimber mnfg. Magazines with the correct Wilson combat 47 ds.i find its easy to carry at 25 ozs empty. I love this little 45. Being my first kimber I am so happy with this ultra carry that I've ordered and rec'd a full size custom11 and fit it ith Wilson combat mags as well

3rd KIMBER.................08/18/2010
By Mr Steve
I have this pistol in addition to a Kimber Compact Custom and a Raptor. This ultra is certainly not as smooth as the other two but it is a very sweet shooter IF you find the right ammo/magazine combination. That is the key. Wilson mags work fine in the others but not in the ultra. Interesting enough, the cheaper Italian mags like Meggars and ACT MAG work flawlessly. The money factor has to be considered also. Springfield makes several models that are on par with this pistol and easier to disassemble. No pesky L shaped pin for the recoil spring. But the Kimber seems to be smoother and fits the hand nicely whereas the Springfield has its share of hard edges. Remember that this is not a SIG but this is also a slightly different type of pistol. Want high mileage? Get a SIG. Want cheaper selection? Go to a Springfield. Want a smooth shooter that covers most bases? Get a Kimber. Use 230 gr Speer for the best action feeding. Any pistol will have its share of hang-ups but alot feel (including

smoove gun09/07/2010

Got me one of them thare stainless Ultra Carry II in 2004. At first there were feed and ejection problems o' plenty. The spring assembly kept unscrewing loose during firing and sometimes the rod would fall out. I was so disappointed for all this unreliability in a $800+ gun. I can still hear the laughs now. Everytime my Kimber fell apart, so did my reputation and pride. If I didn't hear the rod ping the deck, I would've lost the dang thing. I called Kimber and the nice lady sent me a new spring assembly. Everything has been smoove since then. Certain hollowpoints get snagged on the steep ramp if the tips ain't smoove. Accuracy? The gun can shoot better than I can see. These 3 inch groups at 25 yards I read about, dang I can't even see a 3 inch object to aim on at 25 yards. I have a tough time centering small targets on the HUGE tritium sights. On the other hand, I ain't hardly ever missed a torso sized cardboard target at that distance with this combo, even at high rates o' fire. Not t
