| Innovation is the hallmark of FN and is clearly represented in cutting edge designs like the 5.7x28mm FN P90 Personal Defense Weapon, PS90 semi-automatic carbine and FN Five-seveN pistol. The 5.7 round is taking the country by storm as the fastest growing craze in the shooting sports. Low recoil, lightweight and very flat shooting, this round should be in every serious professional's battery. 5.7 ammunition was originally designed as a military replacement for 9mm sub-machine guns favored by may NATO rear echelon, artillery and armored units. The 5.7x28mm round dimensionally is the same bullet as the 5.56mm / .223. Typically most bullets and ammunition will range in the 28-grain to 40-grain weights. While there are many varieties of 5.7 ammuntion made (SB193 Subsonic, SS190 Ball, SS191 Tracer, SS192 Training 28-gr JHP, SS195LF Lead Free, and SS197 V-MAX), only the SS195 and SS197 Hornady Vmax are available as sporting ammunition to the general public. The original five 5.7x28mm ammo loads were developed for and are restricted specifically to military and law-enforcement. The ATF classifies these five loads as armor piercing and FN USA maintains strict control over these in bonded warehouses, releasable only with approved LE or military purchase orders. Through agreements with Fiocchi Ammunition, FN is now able to maintain a regular supply of 5.7 ammo to a rapidly growning US market. |

5.7x28mm 40-gr V-MAX (Blue Tip) FN SS197SR (50 rds)
10700017 From Fabrique Nationale Herstal (FNH), the SS197SR recently replaced the SS196 load. The SS197SR uses the same 40 grain Hornady V-Max projectile as the SS196, but at a slightly higher velocity. The bullets have a blue-colored polycarbonate tip instead of a red tip like the older SS196. Boxer primed and reloadable. |
