Great compact 1911 (5/5) Sep 20, 2013 Lt4545 Albuquerque Ne US
This is one great 1911 for someone looking for a pistol of this type! I looked mine over and found thr fit and finish consistently excellent. Then time to load up and shoot it. Now here I was very pleasantly surprised 2 mags full of magtech 230gr. Hardball was extremely smooth right thru it with no ftes or ftfs Plus the two best surprises of all. The excellent trigger! It's very smooth ,no creep no grittiness at all , and felt just about perfect a @4.5lbs. Then the second and most noticeable plus going for this pistol. I found that it was surprisingly very easy to control and handle for a 1911this small and light .at least for me I thought felt recoil was quite easy to my hand or hardball.i plan on replacing the kimber mnfg. Magazines with the correct Wilson combat 47 ds.i find its easy to carry at 25 ozs empty. I love this little 45. Being my first kimber I am so happy with this ultra carry that I've ordered and rec'd a full size custom11 and fit it ith Wilson combat mags as well. I feel that for an affordable 1911 of great quality, made in America kimber is the gold standard! No I don't work for kimber! Or did I get any special price. I had to wait months to find a store with one in stock forveach purchase plus I paid the going retail price both times.albeit the lowest I could find either locally or on the web. I recommend kimbers to friends and family with confidence.just found some reasonably priced range ammo and can't wait to get my new 1911(kimber) to the range! I give it all the stars I could highest rating!

best of both worlds (5/5) Jan 23, 2012 William Russell Holt Taylorsville Ut US
I have ben shoting 1911s for 40 years and have shot almost all the curent and most of the ones no longer on the market. This is the best of all I have shot. Mine has crimson trace grips and I can keep a swinging target rocking until out of ammo. I trust my life to this little weapon and would like to own more Kimber products.
kimber ultra carry 2 (5/5) Apr 18, 2011 Stacey Dellapenna Brandon Mi US
Right out of the box,This pistol started Cranking them out shooting golden sabers, not even one jam occured.I had a little field stripping problem, due to tight tolerances, but got passed all that.this is my third Kimber, such a fine piece of machinery, with all this feedback im hearing,I sure hope i never run into these problems, and ive only put 250 rounds into my breakin period.I love my Kimber ultra carry 2.Good luck to those who have their problems, lets hope customer service gets better from what ive been reading/hearing .
Great Accuracy (5/5) Oct 24, 2010 Mr. John Eureka CA US
I was surprised at the 25 yd. accuracy. seven round groups of 6" with 230 grain round nose reloads. no jams, smooth cycling. Cleaned and lubricated before before 1st and after each shooting session. Tight grip helps.
smoove gun (4/5) Sep 7, 2010 Seria "LV" Lake Charles LA US
Got me one of them thare stainless Ultra Carry II in 2004. At first there were feed and ejection problems o' plenty. The spring assembly kept unscrewing loose during firing and sometimes the rod would fall out. I was so disappointed for all this unreliability in a $800+ gun. I can still hear the laughs now. Everytime my Kimber fell apart, so did my reputation and pride. If I didn't hear the rod ping the deck, I would've lost the dang thing. I called Kimber and the nice lady sent me a new spring assembly. Everything has been smoove since then. Certain hollowpoints get snagged on the steep ramp if the tips ain't smoove. Accuracy? The gun can shoot better than I can see. These 3 inch groups at 25 yards I read about, dang I can't even see a 3 inch object to aim on at 25 yards. I have a tough time centering small targets on the HUGE tritium sights. On the other hand, I ain't hardly ever missed a torso sized cardboard target at that distance with this combo, even at high rates o' fire. Not to brag, but if I take my time, even at 25 yds, I get 'em in the "A" zone every time, 95% of the time. I reckon I could be more precise with a thin blade up front and narrow gaps in the rear. When I compare the trigger to other people's guns, usually ones commonly issued by the police and such, the Kimber makes it a lot easier to shoot well, ain't no wait in the trigger while I hold sight picture, I tap it, and the gun spits out a bullet somewhere behind the front sight post. I heard that beginners ought not start with a single action 1911 though because beginners tend to lay a finger on the trigger and press before they get a good sight picture. I'd give this gun 5 stars if it could shoot 16,000,000 rds without replacing this or that, like a Glock. I'd give a Glock 5 stars if it could feel like this gun.
3rd KIMBER................. (4/5) Aug 18, 2010 Mr Steve Tampa FL US
I have this pistol in addition to a Kimber Compact Custom and a Raptor. This ultra is certainly not as smooth as the other two but it is a very sweet shooter IF you find the right ammo/magazine combination. That is the key. Wilson mags work fine in the others but not in the ultra. Interesting enough, the cheaper Italian mags like Meggars and ACT MAG work flawlessly. The money factor has to be considered also. Springfield makes several models that are on par with this pistol and easier to disassemble. No pesky L shaped pin for the recoil spring. But the Kimber seems to be smoother and fits the hand nicely whereas the Springfield has its share of hard edges. Remember that this is not a SIG but this is also a slightly different type of pistol. Want high mileage? Get a SIG. Want cheaper selection? Go to a Springfield. Want a smooth shooter that covers most bases? Get a Kimber. Use 230 gr Speer for the best action feeding. Any pistol will have its share of hang-ups but alot feel (including me lately) that when one spends over $800 for a high line pistol..........it should not have any burps or misfeasance. SIGS or even the ridiculously priced HK's don't falter one bit so why can't Kimber get on the ball and reduce these 'break-in' jams? A Kimber is classy and alswys stands out in a crowd. You cannot go wrong with this very concealable pistol.
None Better (5/5) Jul 26, 2010 Anonymous
I have this weapon without the sights, which makes it that much more concealable. Smoothest shooter I have, even one-handed. I have a full size 1911 that isn't this smooth.
Fine weapon (4/5) Apr 2, 2010 Larry Matthias Spokane Wa US
Experienced a few FTL because of the slide stop engaging after 3 - 4 rounds fired. It appears that the Remington green box 230g round nose ammo is moving forward slightly in the mag after firing, inadvertently engaging the stop. I'm replacing the slide stop with a new one being sent from Kimber. Accuracy is excellent. It held its own against my Ed Brown Special Forces full sized 1911. I've given the weapon a rating of "4" until I see if the FTL situation is fixed. A CC weapon MUST fire every time!
Excellent Weapon (5/5) Jan 21, 2010 Ms Blankenship Monroe NC US
I am a female who uses my Ultra Carry for personal protection. No better weapon on the market however, it is not for an inexperienced shooter. Small and compact it is as accurate a weapon as I have ever used. I ran my 500 break in rounds with no difficulty. My son had never fired a handgun before and at 25 yards his first 3 rounds were headshots. I am more than pleased with this gun and trust my life to my Kimber.
To anyone who is talking about the 15 yard range and self defense, at 15 yards it's not self defense in this state unless they are shooting at you. I have never seen a bedroom that was 45 feet long that one might need to shoot someone in for self defense. However, for personal protection in a home environment, its deadly accurate.
