New Member - Questions on Gun Purchase
I am new to the forum and have a few questions. I am considering the purchase of a Springfield Armory XD40, or an XD45 ACP. I lean toward the 45, though. I am a former Air Force member and have fired many types of pistols, but I have been "out of action" for about 10 years. There is a great indoor range near me, so I won't be far from the action. I just need your thoughts and comments about this weapon for self, and home, defense.

Caliber.
The 45 is heavier. And heck, any time you can carry a handgun with 14+1 rounds of 45ACP, you gotta love that.
...not sure why I don't have one.
Oh yeah... I have a Sig, that's why.
My carry is a Sig P239 .40SW.... better, but more expensive.

I got my XD45!
I finally got my Springfield XD45. It is great on the range. I hadn't shot for several years - since I left the military - and I kept all of my rounds within a 4 inch circle at 25 feet; most of them within a 3 inch circle. I used a new target after each clip of 13 so I could watch my pattern. It stayed tight even after 100 rounds. I will go again on Monday morning to finish my breaking in. Again, I am so energized by the way this handgun shoots. I also sent in my application for CCW permit today. Pa is a must issue state so I don't expect any problems. They said it will take no more than 3 weeks to process. Now, I need help with a decent leather belt holster - preferably one that keeps the handgun close to the body. And I need a leather shoulder holster that will keep the handgun up under my arm pit in a horizontal position.
